I'm Running in the Heriot-Watt University Student Union Elections 2012, for the positions of:
- Ordinary Executive - NUS UK Delegate - NUS Scotland Delegate
You can vote between Noon on Wednesday 22nd February and Noon on Friday 24th February. My Pledges - Vision
- The Current Service is Poor, crashes all the time, and not really fit for purpose.
- I will work with the university to fix this, and survey you to find out exactly what you expect of vision.
- Communication
- Do you feel like you know whats going on at Heriot Watt? Do you even know where to look?
- I will lobby to make Vision the student portal, where you can find everything out. Vision should be the centre of your university life.
- Wi-Fi/IT Services
- I am running for the Education remit, however Wi-Fi and IT have become essential to learning. Campuses IT systems are at breaking point, and we should have better.
- I will make it easier for you to report dead-spots, and work with the university to better prioritise the work that is done to improve service.
- Timetabling
- We've all had it. 1 hour of lecture time in the middle of the day, 4 hours without a break, lectures running to 6:15, or running into Wednesday afternoon when you're meant to be playing sport.
- I want to work towards ensuring timetables are sensible, allow you to play sport, and aid learning by giving you sensible breaks.
- "Bad" Modules
- Every semester you fill out a module feedback survey. Every semester you never hear anything again. Even your class reps don't hear.
- This is wrong, this information should be shared, and School Officers and Class reps should be able to use it in the same way they use the National Student Survey - to find problems, and work with staff to find solutions.
